8 Brands Like Mochipan for Cute, Whimsical Clothing
One small label can only print so many dresses. If you've worked through Mochipan's moth cardigans and floral gowns and want that same storybook feeling from a second shop, the search turns strange fast. Type "kawaii brands" and you'll get plush toy stores, a hair dye company and, in one case, a Harajuku restaurant.
We opened every storefront on the old version of this list in August 2026 and checked what was in stock. Ten of the eighteen turned out to be something other than a clothing shop you can buy from today, and they're gone. These 8 are the ones still selling clothes, with prices read off their own product pages.
Mochipan itself is healthy, for the record. Its shop lists 417 products, with dresses like the Fleur Dress in Obsidian Rose ($189.99) and separates like the Fleur Skirt ($69.99) sitting alongside cotton bloomers at $39.99.

Sanrio
Sanrio is the Japanese character company behind Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll and Gudetama, and its US shop runs a small apparel line inside a much larger gift catalogue. Of the 1,750 products listed on sanrio.com, 107 are apparel or shoes, and 105 of those were in stock when we checked. Clothing is a corner of the shop, so treat it as a place to raid rather than a full wardrobe.
What's there leans on collaborations. The apparel collection currently holds an Anti Social Social Club x Hello Kitty zip hoodie ($99), a Cinnamoroll x JapanLA puffer jacket ($125), a Gudetama kigurumi onesie ($82.99) and Hello Kitty x Crocs slides ($55.99). Prices run from $54.99 up to $195 for the Madhappy fleece pieces.
The overlap with Mochipan is the drawn character, printed large and unapologetically. Sanrio's version is flatter and more graphic, where Mochipan's illustrations are painterly. Best for: a printed hoodie or a pair of slides to wear with everything else on this list.
Chuu
Chuu is a Korean label whose English storefront prices in US dollars and describes itself in its own page title as offering worldwide express shipping. A gingham drawstring shorts style was listed at $39.29 in stock on the day we looked, which puts it in the same bracket as a Mochipan skirt for less money.
The clothes are softer and more wearable than most of this list. Cropped cable knits, pleated skirts, gingham sets and cardigans in sugary colours, cut close and short in the way K-fashion tends to be. There's none of the botanical illustration Mochipan builds around, so think of Chuu as the plain-but-sweet layer you wear under the statement piece.
One thing to know before you order: the English site still shows most product names in Korean, so you're shopping by photograph. Best for: pastel knitwear and skirts that won't fight with a printed cardigan.
Pusheen Shop
Pusheen Shop is the official store for the grey cartoon cat, and it does sell clothes, though you have to go looking. Of 201 products, 23 are clothing and 20 of those were in stock. The rest is plush, mugs and stationery, which is worth knowing before you build a basket around it.
The clothing collection is priced kindly. Graphic tees sit at $24 to $25, embroidered sweatshirts at $40 to $45, and a relaxed-fit character hoodie at $50. Loungewear runs to a pyjama set at $48 and a plush robe at the same price. At the top end of the same collection sits a unicorn-print dress at $212, the one piece here that reads as a proper occasion buy.
Compared with Mochipan, the drawing style is simpler and the silhouettes are basic. You're buying the illustration, not the pattern cutting. That makes it a good source of the everyday half of a cute wardrobe, the tee under the pinafore rather than the pinafore itself.
Best for: cheap printed tees and sweatshirts in a soft, rounded cartoon style.
Betsey Johnson
Betsey Johnson has been doing loud, girlish, over-decorated clothing since long before kawaii became a search term, and the clothing side of the business is still substantial. Its site lists 709 products, 138 of them apparel, with 131 in stock and full prices between $49 and $189.
The clothing collection is where the bows live. A sequin bow sweater runs $89 and a rosette cardigan the same, while dresses climb from a silver and black tulle style at $129 to a pink tiered bow dress at $169. Shoes, bags and jewellery make up most of the remaining catalogue if you want to match.
This is the most grown-up brand on the list and the one that works hardest in a normal social calendar. Mochipan's whimsy is illustrated. Best for: a party dress that carries the same sugar without a cartoon on it.
Lazy Oaf
Lazy Oaf is a London label that puts cartoon graphics on properly cut clothes, and it's the strongest match here for anyone who likes Mochipan's prints but wants a sharper shape. Prices are in pounds. Full-price tops and dresses land between £40 and £125, so a US shopper should budget for the exchange rate and international shipping on top.
The dress range is the deepest part of the site, at 214 styles. The Stripey Sweat Mini Dress is £85 and the Checked Out Asymmetric Midi Dress £105. T-shirts start around £45 and run to £58 for the Mismatched Layer T-Shirt.
Lazy Oaf's humour is dryer than Mochipan's, more Peanuts and playground than fairytale, and the tailoring is better than the price suggests. Collar shapes, panelling and asymmetric hems do a lot of the work. We break down its closest competitors in brands like Lazy Oaf.
Best for: printed dresses you can wear to work without feeling costumed.
Kawaii Factory
Kawaii Factory is the cheapest way onto this aesthetic. It lists 833 products in US dollars, with the bulk of the in-stock range priced between $24.99 and $49.99. Bag charms start at $6.99, and printed faux fur coats sit at the top of the range around $89.99.
The stock reads as a mix of Harajuku layering pieces and the coquette bow trend: deer-print coats, matching leg warmers at $29.99, plush shoulder bags at $39.99, hair clips, pearl charms and a lot of Hello Kitty licensing. Turnover looks fast, and 247 of the 250 products on the first page were available, so what you see is broadly what you can get.
The trade-off against Mochipan is fabric and fit. You're buying trend pieces at trend prices, not a $189 gown. Used well, that's the point. This is where you pick up the socks, the leg warmers and the bag that finish an outfit built around one good dress. Its Harajuku neighbours are covered in brands like Japan LA.

Lolitain
Lolitain sells full Lolita coordinates in classic, gothic and sweet styles, priced in US dollars and shipped from China. The site's own description says its clothes come "straight from the manufacturer", and the contact details it publishes list a Chinese phone number, so plan for longer delivery than a US or UK order.
Dresses in the main Lolita category carry list prices from $134.20 to $201.00, with most items showing a discounted price alongside. The gothic section runs darker and heavier, and separate categories cover blouses, bloomers, socks, headwear and shoes, which matters because a Lolita outfit is an assembly job.
This is the deepest end of the pool. Mochipan borrows the frill, the tiering and the bloomer from Lolita and turns them into something you can wear to a coffee shop. Lolitain sells the source material without dilution, petticoat and all.
Best for: building a complete coordinate rather than one statement piece.
Dolls Kill
Dolls Kill is the alternative-fashion retailer that stocks the sweeter, sillier end of goth and Y2K, and its catalogue is both large and well stocked. All 250 products on the first page of its feed had an available size. Prices sit between $49 and $149 across clothing and boots.
The overlap with Mochipan sits in pieces like the pink sailor dress set at $69 and the fur collar shrug at the same price, alongside knit two-pieces around $49. The dress range is where to start. Chunky Mary Janes and knee-high boots run $109 to $149 and do the job Mochipan's own styling implies.

How to Pick Your Next Cute Brand
Start with what you're missing from the outfit. Lazy Oaf and Betsey Johnson are the two here that cut a real dress, one in cartoon prints and one in tulle and bows, and Lolitain is where you go if you want the full coordinate instead. For the everyday layer underneath, Chuu and Pusheen Shop both sell knits and printed tees for under $50. Watch the currencies before you commit. Lazy Oaf prices in pounds, Lolitain ships from China, and Chuu ships from South Korea, so shipping and duties can add a third to a small order. Sanrio, Pusheen Shop, Betsey Johnson, Kawaii Factory and Dolls Kill all price and ship in US dollars.
