21 Brands Like Boston Proper for Polished Everyday Style
The dress you loved sold out in your size, the print you wanted came back in a colour you didn't, and the sale banner has been running so long you've stopped believing the original price. That's the frustrating part of shopping one label. Boston Proper sells women's clothing with some drama built in, and on its dresses page today the full-price pieces run from the Beyond Travel Chic Drawstring Utility Dress ($100) to the Linen Three Quarter Sleeve Maxi Shirt Dress ($140).
Boston Proper is a US direct-to-consumer women's clothing brand, selling dresses, tops, trousers, jackets, shoes and accessories at bostonproper.com, with tops from about $30 and dresses at $100 to $140. We checked 21 other women's brands against that: same polish, comparable prices, different strengths. Every price below came off the brand's own site in August 2026, in the currency that store charges. Where a shop blocked our check, we say so and give the tier instead of guessing a number.
Quick comparison: the table sorts all 21 by what you'd go there for.

Eloquii

Eloquii is a US plus-size label carrying sizes 14 to 32, which is a wider grade than Boston Proper offers and the main reason to start here. Its own summary of itself reads "Fashion first, fit obsessed", and the range covers dresses, blazers, suiting, denim, occasion wear, shoes and accessories.
Pricing starts at $29 on selected styles, and US standard shipping is free over $125. The brand sits under FullBeauty Brands, so the fit blocks are built for the size range rather than graded up from a straight-size sample, which is where most extended ranges come apart at the shoulder and the armhole.
Best for: the same statement dress in a size Boston Proper doesn't cut.
Ann Taylor

Ann Taylor is an American womenswear chain built on office tailoring, and the one to reach for when you want the suit rather than the standout piece. Where Boston Proper leans on print, texture and a bold neckline, Ann Taylor sells the blazer, the trouser and the shell that go under everything else you own.
The site runs promotions almost constantly, with 25% off all suiting live when we checked and free shipping over $150, so the sticker price and the price you pay rarely match. Ann Taylor Factory no longer runs as a separate shop, and anntaylorfactory.com now redirects into the main store. We break the rest of the field down in our guide to brands like Ann Taylor.
Best for: building a work uniform instead of a wardrobe of one-offs.
Club Monaco

Club Monaco makes stripped-back tailoring in a much quieter register than Boston Proper, and it's worth knowing the stock position before you go. On 15 August 2026 the store held 511 products and 3,826 variants with 244 of them available, so roughly one variant in 16 was buyable, and the women's side accounted for 167 of those.
What's in stock is good. The Cutaway Borrem Blazer ($298) and the matching Wide Leg Borrem Pant ($198) are the house suit, and the Crew Neck T-Shirt ($38) is the cheapest way in. We cover the alternatives in brands like Club Monaco.
Best for: shoppers happy to buy what's in stock rather than what they planned.
White House Black Market
White House Black Market builds its whole range around a narrow palette, which makes it the easiest brand here to shop without thinking. Tops, dresses, denim, trousers, jackets and blazers all sit in the same monochrome and neutral family, so most things you buy work with most things you already bought.
It's a Chico's brand, and it cuts petite and curvy fits alongside the standard grade. Free standard shipping starts at $125. The site's price displays were mid-promotion when we looked, running 25% off the whole purchase plus a further discount over $250, so we're giving the tier rather than a number you'd find had moved by the time you clicked.
Best for: a capsule where every piece already matches.

Talbots

Talbots covers misses, petite, plus and plus petite in the same catalogue, which is a broader fit map than any other classic American label on this list. The clothing runs to blouses, sweaters, trousers, jeans, dresses, skirts, suiting and swim, plus two sub-lines, Haven Well Within for loungewear and T by Talbots for casual and active.
Tees were listed at $39.50 when we checked and the site was running 30% off regular-price dresses, skirts, shoes and accessories. The look is more traditional than Boston Proper's, with clearer colour and less body-conscious cutting. If you've weighed it against its closest rival, we've done that too in Ann Taylor vs Talbots.
Best for: finding your size and your length in the same place.
J.Crew
J.Crew sells the preppy American middle ground, with everyday styles advertised from $49.50 when we checked. The women's range sits alongside men's, kids', swim, cashmere and a full petites grade, so it's a household shop rather than a womenswear specialist.
Against Boston Proper it reads plainer. You go to J.Crew for the cotton tee, the chino and the cashmere crew, and to Boston Proper for the piece with the cut-out or the eyelet inset. The site sat behind a bot wall for our automated price check, so treat the $49.50 figure as a promotion and read the item page before you commit.
Best for: cotton and cashmere basics that go under the statement piece.
Kasper

Kasper is the best value on this list for a matched suit. The store carried 714 products and 4,200 variants on 15 August 2026 with 3,215 available, so about three in four were in stock, and the catalogue splits into 141 jackets, 137 tops, 134 blouses, 103 trousers and 95 dresses.
Full-price trousers run $79 to $100, blouses $59 to $90 and dresses $89 to $139. The Ava Straight Leg Pant in stretch crepe ($79) is the workhorse, and the Crosshatch Two Button Blazer and Wide Leg Trouser ($225) buys the jacket and trousers together. Petite and plus versions carry a $10 to $20 difference.
Best for: a full suit for less than one Boston Proper dress and a top.
Lafayette 148 New York
Lafayette 148 New York is the premium end of American tailoring, built on soft construction and heavier fabrics than anything Boston Proper stocks. The site is Cloudflare-protected and turned away our price check, so the tier is all we'll put a number against.
One thing to flag if you've bookmarked it before. The brand trades at lafayette148ny.com, and the longer lafayette148newyork.com address doesn't answer at all, which is the sort of thing that makes a live brand look dead. The clothing itself is closer to Vince or Eileen Fisher than to anything with a print on it.
Best for: one jacket you'll wear for a decade.

Eileen Fisher
Eileen Fisher takes the opposite approach to Boston Proper. The silhouettes are loose and layerable, the palette is muted, and the emphasis falls on natural fibres and long wear rather than on the detail that catches the eye across a room.
Prices are premium. We couldn't read them ourselves because eileenfisher.com returns a 403 to automated requests, down to the robots file, which leaves no read path at all rather than a wall we could go around. That's a bot defence and not a sign of trouble, but the tier is the only figure we'll stand behind.
Best for: dressing well without a fitted waist.
LOFT

LOFT is Ann Taylor's casual sister label, trading at loft.com in the US, and it's the cheapest American classic on this list. Dresses were promoted at $39 and the Riviera trousers at $35 when we checked, against $100 to $140 for a full-price Boston Proper dress.
That gap buys you volume. Four LOFT pieces cost about what one full-price Boston Proper dress does, which changes what you're willing to risk on a shape you haven't worn before. The range runs to dresses, blouses, denim and trousers, with a petite grade alongside.
Best for: testing a silhouette before you spend on it.
Cuyana

Cuyana is a leather goods brand that also sells clothing, and the split matters if you arrive expecting a dress shop. Of 750 products on the site, 185 are small leather goods and 172 are bags, against 42 dresses, 49 tops and 42 bottoms.
The clothing on offer is spare and expensive. The Pima Scoop Neck Tee ($48) is the entry point and the Ponte Barrel Pant ($228) the everyday trouser, with silk and alpaca pieces running to $368. Its "fewer, better" line is the anti-Boston-Proper pitch. Our full rundown lives at brands like Cuyana.
Best for: the bag first, the wardrobe second.
Banana Republic

Banana Republic sits between LOFT and Club Monaco on price and delivers the most reliable office trouser on this list. The Everyday Wide-Leg Pant in Tencel-cotton costs $130 and the Skinny Traveler Pant 2.0 costs $110, both in the technical stretch blends the brand has built its trouser business on.
The house look is heritage-leaning and neutral, so it clashes less with a Boston Proper dress than it complements one. Watch the price endings on the site, because anything finishing in .97 or .99 is a markdown rather than a list price, and the two figures sit next to each other in the same grid.
Best for: the trousers you wear three days a week.
Vince

Vince makes the quiet Californian version of what Boston Proper does loudly. The fall range the brand leads with runs to crisp cottons, silks, cashmeres and leather trim, and the shapes are soft rather than structured.
The Cotton Short-Sleeve Shirt Dress ($249) was in stock when we checked and gives a fair read on the range, sitting at roughly double a full-price Boston Proper dress. The site carries womenswear and menswear together, along with shoes and handbags.
Best for: neutrals that look expensive from across the room.
Sandro

Sandro is French contemporary, and its US site prices women's dresses from $400 to $645. That's a real step up from Boston Proper, and what you're paying for is detail: rhinestone trims, asymmetric knit panels, pointelle stitches and jewel fastenings rather than print.
The dress range alone ran to more than thirty styles when we looked, with the Mini Knit Dress with Ruffles at $425 at the accessible end and the Fancy Knit Maxi Dress at $645 at the top. Sandro also runs a secondhand section on the same site, which is the cheapest legitimate way into the brand.
Best for: one dress that carries a whole evening.
Reiss

Reiss is a British contemporary label selling tailored womenswear and menswear, and it runs a full US site in dollars rather than making you convert. The strength is tailoring, with a dedicated event-wear section aimed squarely at weddings, plus dresses, tops and trousers on the women's side and a menswear range alongside.
Prices land in the premium tier. Our automated check was turned away at the product pages, so we're not quoting a figure we can't stand behind, and there's an outlet section on the site worth reading first. Against Boston Proper the cutting is sharper and more restrained, closer to a suit than to a statement dress.
Best for: the wedding you have in six weeks.
Tory Burch

Tory Burch is the designer end of the preppy-bohemian look, and the prices say so. Dresses on the US site run from $330 for a pleated golf dress to $2,995 for an embellished mesh style, with most printed viscose and cotton pieces landing between $495 and $850.
Print and pattern are the throughline with Boston Proper, and the difference is where the money goes: fabric quality, embellishment and finishing rather than volume. The handbags are the brand's centre of gravity, and we've written about the alternatives in bag brands like Tory Burch.
Best for: a printed dress you'd keep for years, at a price to match.
Maje

Maje is a French contemporary womenswear label that splits the difference between romance and hardware. On the US site a tailored skirt with lace runs $285 and a striped shirt $320, so a two-piece outfit lands around $600.
The house look is softer than Sandro's and busier than Vince's, with lace inserts, contrast trims and cropped jackets doing the work. A sale runs across spring and summer styles at up to 50% off, which is where most US shoppers buy.
Best for: French detailing without the top-tier price.
Hobbs

Hobbs is a British label with the closest occasion-wear range to Boston Proper's, and it prices in pounds by default. The Elida Shift Dress is £79 and the Suri Jersey Fit and Flare Dress £109, both in stock when we checked.
A dollar toggle sits on the site for US readers, so check which currency your basket is in before you pay. The range covers dresses, coats, jackets, knitwear, trousers and occasion wear, with shoes and bags alongside, and there's a full petite collection next to the main grade.
Best for: British occasion dressing, priced in GBP.
Vero Moda

Vero Moda is the budget Scandinavian option on this list, and there's a catch US readers need up front. Its own shipping selector lists Europe, the UK, Canada and Australia, and the United States isn't on it, so you can't order from veromoda.com in the US at all.
American shoppers reach the brand through stockists instead, with Nordstrom, Macy's, Bloomingdale's and ASOS all carrying it. The clothing is trend-led and priced well under everything else here, which makes it the place for a seasonal shape you don't expect to keep. Set against Boston Proper's fabric weight and finishing, that's the trade you're making.
Best for: readers shopping from Europe, the UK, Canada or Australia.
Calypso St. Barth

Calypso St. Barth takes the same appetite for colour and print that Boston Proper has and points it at the Caribbean. The store held 267 products and 880 variants on 15 August 2026 with 686 available, so about four in five were in stock, which is the healthiest position of any shop we checked here.
Dresses run $395 to $477, with the Sasha Dress at $395 and the nico sleeveless maxi at $477. Tops sit between $195 and $325 and the Brie Pants at $295. The site also sells rugs, cushions and lighting, so filter to clothing unless you want the house too.
Best for: a holiday wardrobe with a proper colour story.
Lulus
Lulus is the occasion-dress specialist, and it's the youngest-skewing brand on this list. The catalogue is built around weddings, parties and date nights rather than the office, which is where it parts company with almost everything above it.
Prices sit in the budget to mid tier. The site runs a PerimeterX bot wall that blocked our automated price read, so we're not quoting figures for it. Buy here for the outfit you need for one specific evening, and buy elsewhere for the dress you want in rotation.
Best for: a wedding guest dress you don't need to love forever.
Where to Start Depending on What You Want
Sort by the thing you're missing rather than by price. Kasper is the cheapest route to a matched suit at $225 for both pieces, with Ann Taylor offering the wider colour choice for the same job. On sizing, Eloquii runs to a 32 and Talbots carries misses, petite, plus and plus petite in one catalogue, which no other brand here does.
For the statement dress, Calypso St. Barth and Tory Burch have the print and Sandro and Maje have the detail, with roughly $200 a dress between the two pairs. Budget is where LOFT at $39 a dress and Kasper at $79 a trouser stretch furthest, buying four pieces where Boston Proper buys one.
Two practical notes before you click. Vero Moda won't ship to a US address at all, so US readers need a stockist. Club Monaco had one variant in 16 available when we checked, so buy what's on the site rather than what you planned.
