Lancôme Revamps L'Absolu Rouge Drama Matte with New Formula and Shades

Lancôme is elevating its signature L'Absolu Rouge Drama Matte collection with an enhanced formula and ten new shades, featuring pop star Olivia Rodrigo as the face of the campaign.

Lancôme's latest iteration of L'Absolu Rouge Drama Matte goes beyond typical matte lipstick formulations by incorporating ceramides - a key ingredient that strengthens the lip barrier and prevents moisture loss during wear. This addresses a common complaint about matte lipsticks: the drying effect that often comes with long-wearing formulas.

The upgraded formula combines three key technologies:

Light-diffusing powder pigments create the signature cream-to-powder texture that sets this formula apart from traditional mattes. These specialized pigments help achieve intense color payoff while maintaining a smooth, non-drying finish.

Newly added ceramides work to reinforce the lip barrier, providing protection against dehydration - a crucial feature for anyone who's experienced the dreaded "matte lipstick crack" midway through their day.

The brand's proprietary Grand Rose Extracts™, sourced from rose hearts, continues as the line's foundation ingredient, chosen for its unique molecular properties that support lip health.

The color storyThe expansion brings 19 total shades, ranging from everyday nudes to bold statement colors. Standout additions include:

  • Haute en Pink (399): A vibrant pink featured in Rodrigo's campaign
  • Plum Addiction (430): A deep, dramatic purple that works across skin tones
  • Nude Frisson (205): A neutral everyday shade
  • Espresso Rush (338): A rich brown for subtle drama
