13 Brands Like Coldwater Creek for Classic Comfort Style
The cardigan sells out in your size and the two colors left aren't yours. That's the risk of shopping one label for classic, comfortable clothes. Your whole autumn hangs on a restock email. Coldwater Creek still does that job well, with knit tops, tunics and pull-on pants in misses, petite, women's plus and tall. Here are 13 brands covering the same ground, with the price we found on each brand's own site in August 2026.
Five of the 13 blocked our price check behind a bot wall or ran a sitewide markdown that hid the list price. Those sections say so and give the tier in words instead of a number we can't stand behind. If you want to time a purchase at the anchor first, we track that in does Coldwater Creek have sales.
| Brand | Price when we checked (USD) | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Talbots | $78 to $178 on tops | Polished classics with a collar |
| Chico's | $27.99 to $199.50 | Prints, and travel knits that don't wrinkle |
| Lands' End | Mid-range, site blocked the check | Dependable basics in four fit ranges |
| Eileen Fisher | Premium, site blocked the check | Simple shapes you keep for a decade |
| J.Jill | $69 to $139 | Soft knits in muted colors |
| Soft Surroundings | Mid-range, sitewide markdown running | Gauze tunics and easy dresses |
| Catherine's | Mid-range, 50% off sitewide running | Sizes 16 to 34 and 0X to 6X |
| LOFT | Mid-range, site blocked the check | A younger cut of the same idea |
| J.Crew | $98 to $228 on sweaters | Cashmere and merino knitwear |
| L.L.Bean | $59.95 for the Scotch Plaid flannel | Clothes you wear outdoors |
| Pendleton | $148 to $299 on women's sweaters | Wool that outlives the trend |
| Garnet Hill | $34 to $169 on tops | Linen and organic cotton |
| Karen Kane | $78 to $258 on apparel | Petite and plus cut from the same style |
Talbots

Talbots sells the closest thing to a Coldwater Creek wardrobe with a sharper collar on it, at $78 to $178 across its tops range. The Daily Shirt in Cotton Denim runs $118, the Ottoman Rib Button Front Top $98, and the Organic Cotton Denim Shacket $148. Its tops category held 114 items when we looked.
The overlap with Coldwater Creek is the shopper, not the styling. Both sell to women who want a knit top that fits properly and lasts more than one season. Talbots leans more structured, with more shirting and fewer pull-on waistbands, so it's the better pick if you still dress for an office some days.
Best for: classic separates you can wear to work without thinking about it. We go deeper on the label in brands like Talbots.
Chico's
Chico's covers the same age bracket as Coldwater Creek with far more pattern, at $27.99 to $199.50. The Travelers No Tummy Pants are $89.50, the Double-Breasted Sweater Blazer $159.50, and the Pima Elbow Sleeve Tee $27.99. Its Travelers line is the reason a lot of people shop there, since the knit packs flat and comes out of a suitcase wearable.
One thing to check before you order. Chico's runs its own sizing, numbered 000 through 4 rather than XS through XL, so your usual size tells you nothing. Read the chart on the product page.
Best for: prints, and clothes that survive a trip. We put the two head to head in Talbots vs Chico's.
Lands' End
Lands' End is the practical end of this list, and it's the one brand here that fits four ranges on the same garment: regular, plus, petite and tall. We couldn't quote a price. The site returns an Access Denied wall to every automated request, so anything we printed would be guesswork, and the honest label is mid-range.
What it shares with Coldwater Creek is a refusal to chase a season. A Lands' End sweater looks the same in 2026 as it did in 2019, which is either the point or the problem depending on how you shop. It skews more outdoorsy, with more fleece and rain shells than tunics.
Best for: hardwearing basics when fit range matters more than styling. Its supply chain gets a closer look in is Lands' End fast fashion.
Eileen Fisher

Eileen Fisher is the premium answer to the same question Coldwater Creek asks, which is how to dress comfortably without looking like you gave up. Its site also blocks automated requests, so we're giving the tier rather than inventing a figure. Expect to pay well above the rest of this list per piece.
The design language is a small set of shapes repeated across seasons in flat colors, so a jacket bought three years ago still sits with a top bought this month. That's a different promise from Coldwater Creek's, which is variety at a mid price. You buy fewer things here and wear them harder.
Best for: building a short wardrobe of simple pieces that keep working together. There's a full alternatives list in brands like Eileen Fisher.
J.Jill
J.Jill runs $69 to $139 at full price and is the nearest match on this list for how a Coldwater Creek top feels in the hand. The Ribbed Henley Sweater is $79, the Cowl-Neck Dress $119, and the Short-Sleeve Shirtdress $139. Its Wearever line held 80 items across regular, petite and tall when we checked.
Wearever is the part worth knowing about. It's a knit built to travel and to go through a washing machine, which is the same brief Chico's Travelers answers with more pattern and J.Jill answers with fewer colors.
Best for: muted, soft separates you reach for on a weekday. More options in brands like J.Jill.
Soft Surroundings

Soft Surroundings sells the gauze tunic and the easy dress, in misses, petites and women's plus. Every item on the page we read carried a Sale label, including the Escambia Gauze Tunic Shirt and the Oceo Crinkle Gauze Wide-Leg Pants, so we're not quoting a markdown as a list price. The tier is mid-range and the site was discounting across the board.
Where it separates from Coldwater Creek is texture. Crinkle gauze, cotton and drapey knits do the work rather than structure, and the silhouettes are longer and looser. If you already own three Coldwater Creek tunics and want a fourth in a different fabric, this is the obvious place.
Best for: floaty, comfortable pieces in warm weather.
Catherine's
Catherine's is the plus-size specialist here, running sizes 16 to 34 and 0X to 6X. The site was carrying 50% off sitewide and an extra 50% off clearance when we checked, which means the numbers on screen aren't list prices, so we're calling it mid-range rather than quoting a promotional figure.
Coldwater Creek tops out at 3X. If that's where your size sits or just above it, Catherine's is the practical reason to shop elsewhere rather than a stylistic one. The range covers tops, bottoms, dresses and intimates, and the styling is straightforward everyday clothing rather than anything directional.
Best for: shoppers above a 3X who want the same easy separates. There are more inclusive-sizing lists in plus size brands like Free People.
LOFT

LOFT is the younger cut of the same idea, and it's the cheapest full-price brand on this list. We can't put a figure on it. The storefront sits behind a PerimeterX wall that refuses automated requests, and the only prices it showed us were promotional ones, so mid-range is as far as we'll go.
The clothes are softer and shorter than Coldwater Creek's, with more denim and more dresses. Sizing runs regular, petite, tall and plus. If you like the comfort but find the anchor's proportions a little long, this is where to look first, and it's worth waiting for a sale because LOFT runs them constantly.
Best for: comfortable weekday clothes at the lowest price here. We compare it with its sister label in Ann Taylor vs LOFT.
J.Crew

J.Crew charges $98 to $228 across its women's sweaters, and knitwear is the reason to shop it against Coldwater Creek. The Perfect Cashmere Crewneck runs $148 to $228, the Rolled Cashmere Long-Sleeve Sweater $148 to $168, and the Double-Layer Cardigan in Merino Wool $128 to $138. The 2025 Rollneck at $98 to $128 carries 2,358 reviews on its own product page.
The colors are louder and the cuts are closer than anything at Coldwater Creek, so it reads younger on the hanger. Fibre is where the money goes. You're paying for cashmere and merino rather than for a cotton blend, which changes the cost-per-wear math on a sweater you keep for years.
Best for: one good knit rather than three adequate ones. Full list in brands like J.Crew for women.
L.L.Bean

L.L.Bean prices its Women's Scotch Plaid Flannel Shirt, Relaxed at $59.95, which tells you most of what you need to know about where it sits. It's the outdoor member of this group, built around flannel, fleece and boots rather than tunics and blouses.
The shared ground with Coldwater Creek is longevity and a relaxed fit. L.L.Bean cuts generously and backs its clothes with a satisfaction guarantee, and its flannels come in several weights, including the lightweight Whisperweight and the thick Chamois. What you won't find is the anchor's dressier end.
Best for: weekend clothes that handle weather. There's a wider roundup in brands like L.L.Bean.
Pendleton
Pendleton runs $148 to $299 on women's sweaters, and the fibre is the whole argument. The Women's Merino Sweater is $175, the Women's Cotton Cable Cardigan $148, and the Women's Cheyenne Cotton Cardigan $228. Its store reports prices in USD.
Pendleton is a heritage wool mill first and a clothing brand second, which shows in the cardigans and wool shirts rather than in anything trend-led. It costs more per piece than Coldwater Creek and gives you fewer options, so it works as the one warm layer you buy properly rather than as a whole wardrobe.
Best for: a wool cardigan or shirt you'll still wear in ten years.
Garnet Hill
Garnet Hill runs $34 to $169 on women's tops and names its fabrics on the tile, which is rarer than it should be. The Easy Linen Tunic is $109, the Blake Organic-Cotton Corduroy Button-Down Shirt $129, the Essential Elbow-Sleeve Tee $39, and the Pima Cotton Layering Tank $34. The site was marking the brand's 50th anniversary when we read it.
It sells home goods alongside clothing, the same catalog logic Soft Surroundings uses, and the apparel half sits close to Coldwater Creek on comfort while going further on natural fibre. Linen and organic cotton run through the range instead of appearing once as a seasonal capsule.
Best for: linen and cotton pieces where you can see what you're buying before you click.
Karen Kane
Karen Kane prices its apparel from $78 to $258 in USD, and it's the strongest pick here for anyone who needs petite or plus cut from the same style rather than a separate range. The Long Open Front Cardigan Sweater is $148, the Faux Suede Embellished Half-Placket Shirt $128, and the Plus Size Blouson Sleeve Tie-Front Top $118.
Stock depth is the other reason it earns a place. The catalog held 1,250 products when we read it, with 3,890 of 4,511 variants available, so the size you want is usually still there. The styling is looser and more Californian than Coldwater Creek's, with more prints and more drape.
Best for: matching petite, regular and plus versions of one piece.
How to Pick Your Coldwater Creek Alternative
Start with the constraint that decides it for you. If it's size, go to Catherine's above a 3X or Karen Kane and Lands' End when you need petite or tall in the same style. If it's price, LOFT and Chico's sit lowest, and Eileen Fisher and Pendleton sit highest per piece.
If it's fabric, Garnet Hill and Pendleton name what you're getting. And if you want the closest thing to a Coldwater Creek order landing on your doorstep, order from J.Jill first and Talbots second.
Five of these stores wouldn't show us a list price, which is worth remembering when a listicle quotes one anyway. Check the number on the product page before you buy, and read our latest brand guides if you want the same treatment for another label.
If you purchase through our links, we may receive a commission. Our editorial team is independent and only endorses brands we believe in.
